Our Mission
Chatham Community Church is truly “Joined in the Spirit”. We are the result of a merger between two congregations with long histories in the Chatham community. The former Chatham United Church of Christ was founded in 1834 as the Chatham Congregational Church, while the former Chatham United Methodist Church was founded in 1838.
In 1991, after nearly 20 years of worshipping together, the two congregations merged into Chatham Community Church. Although considered a “Federated Church”, we still maintain our ties to the two founding denominations. We are part of the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church as well as members of the Eastern Ohio Association of the United Church of Christ.
We proudly support the missions and ministries of both denominations.
Our Church buildings date to the mid-1800s and are unique as examples of church architecture of the times.
We use both structures to serve our God and community. The north building next to the Chatham Township Community Center is our Outreach Center, where we host AA, 4-H, community book club, and the Head Start program. The south building, next to the General Store, is our Worship Center and office.
“Bedford has helped accomplish over 200 of its partners’ major conservation goals. They inspire everyone to care for the planet.”
