Serving the Community and God with Two Buildings and One Heart
Chatham Community Church was formed by a merger between two congregations with long histories in the community. The former Chatham United Church of Christ was founded in 1834 as Chatham Congregational Church, while the former Chatham United Methodist Church was founded in 1844. In 1966, the two groups decided to share a pastor and conduct joint worship services. We officially merged to form Chatham Community Church in 1991.
Our worship services are held at the Worship Center, where the church office is also located. The Fellowship Hall houses Head Start and is used for church fellowship activities and meetings. Community groups, such as 4-H, also use the Fellowship Hall as part of our outreach to the community.
Chatham Community Church maintains ties to the two founding denominations. We are part of the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, as well as members of the Eastern Ohio Association of the United Church of Christ. We support the missions of both denominations equally, as well as our local missions. New members are given the opportunity to declare for either denomination, as well as the choice to join us as an independent member.
